Reflect backs up your hard disk. If you are using image backups, Reflect does not care what is on your hard disk partitions (Windows, virtual machines, etc.).

So if you have your VM related software and virtual disk all on its own partition. You can back up that partition (alone or along with other partitions on the drive). If you just have a large single partition and both Windows 7 and your VM files are on that partition, then your VM programs and virtual drives are being backed up.

All this can, and should be, backed up from your host system - in this case Windows 7. There is no reason to use Reflect in your XP virtual system. As mentioned above it may be best to use a separate partition for your virtual computer software and virtual disk storage to make it easier to backup and restore this partition separately from your main system.

I have my VMware on drive M which allows me to NOT back it up as frequently as I backup my host system. I only use my XP VM occasionally and it saves changed files to a partition on my host system (Win 7) so there is seldom a need to backup that partition as frequently.
