I read the post re Multi boot Cloning and my problem is somewhat similar. Maybe? Not my area of expertise.
I didn't understand all that was said there so started a new topic.
I have Win 7 Pro 32 bit on one Hard Drive.
I then installed an SSD and installed fresh Win 7 Pro 64 bit.
I was wanting to keep my 32 bit installation intact and useable as it has some older programs that I use occasionally.
When needed I change the Boot disc setting in the Bios.
That works fine.
I now want to do some Beta testing of my surveying program so rather than install/ uninstall/ reinstall etc and just mess up my new SSD, I decided I'd just Clone my 64 bit SSD to another SSD and Boot from that, keeping my original 64 bit SSD installation intact for when Beta finishes.
I Cloned the 64 bit SSD (Samsung Pro 500gb) to the newly installed 256gb Samsung Evo. I was running from the Win 7 Pro 32 bit HDD.
All went smoothly but when I restarted and booted from the Evo it actually booted from the 32 bit Hard Drive, or so I thought.
I then discovered it had Cloned the 32 bit Hard drive to the new SSD Evo and not the installation of the 64 bit of the 500GB SSD.
I know it was supposed to clone the SSD 64 bit as I'd made a screen shot showing what my settings were.
I then decided to reformat the Evo and start again.
But now I couldn't Clone, only Image the disc.
I decided to create the image on an external hard drive. It seemed to work okay.
Now I would like to get that image back onto my Evo and set up the Bios to boot from that.
I couldn't work out how to make all that work as it appeared it wanted to copy back to the current 'C' Drive with the 32 bit version on. I was running from the HDD 32 bit (not sure what terminology is - not on PC now)
