I've used Macrium 5 for a number of years now primarily on Win 7 systems.
Yesterday I picked up a Surface Pro 2 running Win 8.1 to run an evaluation to determine if I want to keep it. My normal procedure when getting a new machine is to immediately boot it with a rescue media and create a full image of the OS disc with no mods.
I tried this on the Surface using one of my WinPE Resuce Media USB drives, but I was not successful. I tried all of the hints I could find on the web for booting the Surface from a USB drive, but none of the WinPE USB drives would work. One was merely bypassed and the 8.1 OS booted, the other terminated with a error message.
Will it be necessary for me to move one of my licenses to the Surface and create a rescue media from it to be able to do this?
