Where do I REALY NEED System Volume Information ?

1. Is this essential for the use of VSS when making Image backups ?

Is it needed for Image backups on each of these volumes :-

2. C:\ C_OCZ_System (Windows 7 system drive - SSD)
3. *:\ System Reserved (Windows 7 100 MB Boot - SSD)
4. E:\ E_Extra (relocated Pagefile and TMP/TEMP folders - Samsung HDD)
5. D:\ D_Data (relocated browser profiles with their caches - Samsung HDD)

6. Would imaging of the above be successful even if other NTFS partitions on the same HDD were excluded from backups and I had removed their System Volume Information ?

7. Would imaging of the above require that the *.mrimg backup files be created on a partition that also included System Volume Information ?

I assume that imaging of FAT32 partitions has no need for them to include System Volume Information

I really hope there is no need for my 1 TB USB3 connected NTFS formatted external backup drive to include System Volume Information
because I really really really thought that I could add this drive for a quick backup,
and then do a Safe Removal and take it back for safety to another room,
but I find that sometimes Windows will NOT ALLOW safe removal because it is still hooked into NTFS entanglements on the driveand I have to leave it connected until I shut down Windows and I am not 101% confident that Windows knows how to safely shutdown with a USB3 drive still spinning.

Regards
Alan
