The same checks are undertaken during the restore. In light of this fact, it seems that either the corruption occurred after the verify but before the restore, a random read error occurred during the restore or there is an issue with the windows PE (rescue disk) drivers. Of these, I would suggest that a random read error/corruption caused by a USB bus or motherboard issue is the most likely cause.
