FYI everything went without a hitch on the MR side of things and I had everything restored in under an hour.
Windows refused to shrink the C: partition (complaining of unspecified corruption) and I had to resort to a 3rd party partitioning product to carve out a data partition. This also occurred the after the first ssd replacement.
It's reassuring to know that I have MR to rescue my Sony VAIO PC after the next failure (the first SSD lasted 5 months and the second one lasted a little over a month) I'm expecting this one to fail any day now!
