This may be an issue with Windows PE 5/Windows 8.x and Macrium can't do anything about it. But, if there is something that can be done, I'm requesting it. :)
With PE 5.0/Windows 8.x rescue media, there is about 2 minutes, when booting from a BD-RE, of a blank, black screen that appears before the Windows 8.x window logo appears. During this time, the only indication that the rescue media is booting is the drive lights for the optical drive and the HD's, both internal and USB, flashing.
When the Macrium recovery environment is selected from the Windows boot menu, the recovery displays a loading files message and a progress bar as it initializes before booting Windows PE. If this can be added to booting from optical media, that's what I'm requesting. Some kind of interaction from the software that it actually did something before trying to start Windows PE.
I had a case where a DVD+RW with Windows PE 5.0 rescue media on it that was a corrupt disc. It tried to boot but after 5 minutes, it never booted into the recovery environment or even display the Windows 8.x window animation. I burned to a different DVD+RW and it did boot, so it was the disc in question that was corrupt. During the entire attempt to boot, it appeared as if it was trying to boot, but apparently never got past a certain point. The internal and USB HD lights were illuminated as was the optical drive light indicating reading.
So, I hope you can see my request for some kind of interaction at the start of booting Windows PE 5.0/Windows 8.x. As I said, this may be a limitation of Microsoft's, that it's set up that way and there's nothing that can be done. But, if it can, I'd like to see something done. :)
Thanks!
